Warehouse CCTV command centres: connecting sites before replacing cameras
A buyer’s guide to networks, camera and NVR integration, servers, displays, and the pilot needed before connecting warehouses to central monitoring.
A CCTV command centre brings video from several locations into central monitoring. Phase one can focus on live viewing and incident investigation, retaining existing cameras and recorders where compatibility is demonstrated. Consider analytics once connectivity and monitoring are stable.
Define what monitoring staff must be able to do
Live viewing, historical playback, and evidence download are separate requirements. A successful live stream does not prove access to recordings on an NVR. NVR means Network Video Recorder; VMS means Video Management System.
- List sites, camera and NVR counts, and photographs of device models and firmware versions.
- Specify simultaneous viewers, monitors, and camera tiles displayed together.
- Define recording location, required retention, and who may export evidence.
Where can Matrix SATATYA SAMAS fit?
Matrix’s catalogue documents SAMAS as a multisite VMS with management, recording/streaming, and client components. This is a documented product capability, rather than a guarantee of compatibility with every third-party device.

Test the installed equipment first
ONVIF’s database identifies conformity by model and firmware or software version. A logo or brand alone is insufficient for integration decisions. Manciti proposes testing representative equipment before quoting a complete rollout.
- Test live video, substream quality, and reconnection after a network outage.
- Test NVR recording search, playback, and export where required.
- Test simultaneous viewers and camera tiles, recording network and server load.

Size connectivity around displayed video
Worked illustration, not a customer project result: 16 streams at 0.5 Mbps each require approximately 8 Mbps for video. This excludes network overhead, playback traffic, and other users. Check warehouse upload capacity and central connectivity.
Lower-resolution substreams can support tiled viewing, with the main stream used for detail. Server sizing depends on codecs, resolutions, stream counts, and central recording. Central storage is not automatically necessary when recordings remain accessible on warehouse NVRs.
When should Matrix cameras be added?
Selected SATATYA models offer Sony STARVIS sensors, True WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) for contrasting illumination, and adaptive frame rate settings. For new coverage or planned replacements, verify image quality on site. Storage savings depend on activity and configuration.

Weighbridge integration as a later phase
Where a warehouse uses a weighbridge, weight data from the scale or its software can be linked with license plate recognition, CCTV snapshots, and gate-access records. Matrix's catalogue describes a SAMAS Weighbridge workflow that associates vehicle identity with images of the truck, driver, load, and scale reading for review. The camera does not measure vehicle weight.
This is separate from the initial command-centre scope. Manciti must check the existing scale interface, plate-reading suitability, gate rules, data permissions, and the required integration and licences before promising functions or quoting a price.

Agree the implementation deliverables
Separate licensing, servers/workstations, networking, configuration, training, and support in the proposal. Handover should document connected devices, viewing permissions, evidence export, and reconnection tests. The business benefit is consistent multisite monitoring and more organised incident investigation.
Questions before buying
- Can every Hikvision camera and NVR be retained?
- This requires model, firmware, and workflow testing. Validate live viewing, NVR playback, and export separately.
- Are new cameras required?
- Existing cameras and NVRs can be retained where they pass integration tests and meet the requirements. New cameras address coverage or image-quality gaps.
- Can CCTV weigh a truck's load?
- No. The weight comes from a weighbridge. Video and plate recognition can be associated with the weight record for verification and investigation after the integration has been tested.
- What determines the price?
- Licensed channels, required functions, servers and workstations, networking, site count, and installation/support scope. A device inventory enables a defensible budget.
